Help S4 Lollipop Headphone problem

When I plug in headphone I get a message saying : Unfortunately App is not responding no matter which App I'm using. This happens even when unplugging the headphones.
This has only started happening since the Lollipop 5.0.1 upgrade.
Help
 
Lollipop has worked ok for about a month. First time I have used the headphones since the update though, now I am starting to get repeated error messages about all sorts.
 
Updated yesterday. VZ's update came in two parts. First part updated fine, but the second part give me issues, so I did an FDR between the two (nervously, I might add.) After the second update finally installed correctly, things have been really good. Battery is way better and unit overall is very snappy. Saw your post and gave the headphones a try and they worked as expected. Plugged them in and PowerAmp cranked up and started playing from my library. When I unplugged them, same thing, it worked as expected. An FDR may be in your future.

I'm on UK EE running Android Lollipop version 5.0.1 on an unrooted GT I9505.
I've heard of all of the problems with the VZ versions of this software but they don't normally apply to the EE version.
I cleared all caches after installing and everything has been working ok these faults have just appeared since I used the headphones.
