Help S4 stopped working completly

Lurker
Hi there!
I bought a used SGS4 on eBay a couple of months ago and it worked fine. After some small issues I rooted the device with Odin. I then also bought a new battery (an ANKER) and used the phone this way for a couple of weeks. No big problems apart from some small charging issues.
But then:
One day I used up my entire phone battery (as done often before with no problems) and hooked it up to my charger over night (the same charger as always) but the next morning it just wouldn't turn on anymore -no matter what I did. I seriously tried everything:
taking the battery out / putting it back in
hard reset / soft reset
and what not. All the things you can find on the internet concerning this problem. I even took the phone apart, but there seemed to be nothing I could do.

Unlike what most people experienced:
My phone does not turn on, is not recognized by my PC does not vibrate, no lights, NOTHING!!!

...so now I figured it might of been the rooting. Any ideas concerning that?

I'm thankful for any help!

p.S. if it's definitely not the rooting, i'm sorry for posting in the wrong forum. Please move then. Thanks.

I dont think its to do with rooting. My guess is the battery. Allowing the battery to go completely flat is not a good idea but i wouldnt have thought it could kill it. Do you have another battery to try? When i bought an Anker battery it came with a plug in adaptor which you can insert the battery to charge as well as a usb lead so you can also charge the phone at the same time. Idont suppose you got one of those?

I have tried a different battery but there is still no reaction.
As you said I couldn´t imagine letting the battery go flat could kill the phone and thats why I guessed it might have to do with the rooting.
My ANKER battery is just like the simple Samsung one, I was just hoping for a longer life therfor I bought it - nothing special about it.
I am absolutly out of ideas...
But thanks for the reply anyway.

Can you try cleaning the gold connectors (to the battery) and the battery connectors? Failing that, I'm out of ideas, sorry. It may be a component failure.

I did actually try that too. So I blew and tried cleaning with a piece of cloth - no succes. Or is there any better way of cleaning it?
I thought about that too, but then at leat my PC should recognize. shoudn´t it??

The cloth should be fine. The PC won't recognise it without power. BTW are you using the original USB lead? May be worth trying another lead.

But the PC provides power doesn´t it? I mean if the power button is not working and the battery is flat, the PC should still recognize shouln´t it?
I am using an original Samsung USB-cable and adapter.

No, if the device isn't getting power (perhaps because the motherboard is faulty) the PC won't see it. I would try another USB lead and if that doesn't work I think it needs to be professionally repaired.

I have tried a few different UBS leads, but that does not seem to be the problem...
If the motherboard needs repaired, then getting it repaired won't be much cheaper than just getting a new(used)phone.

Sorry I can't help more. I have had an S4 for the last 2 years and enjoyed the phone and found it reliable. My son had an SGS3 and that died. It's like a lottery:(
