Help s5 does not charge.

Fusionstar

Lurker
Bought a refurbished s5 online from a "reputable" dealer on eBay. I have been trying every charger and cable I have including anker 2.4 amp IQ chargers. Nothing is working. I have only successfully charged this phone to 100% twice the first two nights but the phone had to be off to charge. Now the charging indicator shows up but it just discharges. USB, 4 different chargers, still discharging according to battery app. Bad battery maybe?

Edit; Now it doesn't charge on or off.

Edit: did a factory reset and is now charging. Not sure if lollipop was the issue. Will update if problem rearises.

From reading what you have done, it would appear that the software that controls the charging rate got messed up.

The FDR restored everything to OEM condition for your OS version, which allowed the charger to work again.

Most likely, all will be good for you now.

have you corresponded with the eBay vendor?
most of them would rather do an exchange than take a bad hit in ratings.

I have contacted the seller and she has offered to exchange it. However, I would still like to figure out the problem for my own personal knowledge. I took it to the sprint store telling them my problem and when the associate plugged it into her USB port on her computer. It was charging. As soon as I went to my truck. It wouldn't charge. I have 2 different chargers in my truck and none worked. I think I'm hexed.

Sounds like a defective phone. Don't wait too long or time will run out then the seller doesn't have to exchange it. I would have returned it right away. Mary

They stated from a reputable ebay seller. In my opinion most of the mass market phone sellers on ebay have horrible feedback. If the seller was selling a ton of phones cheap I would be very surprised if they had 100% feedback and no complaints. Post the sellers name so I can check them out. I have bought used phones on ebay but only from private sellers that were upgrading and phones were in like new condition. If you waste a lot of time you won't be able to file a PayPal claim. Mary
