Have you made sure you have MTP drivers installed on the computer?
Which OS? Android uses Microsoft's MTP for usb transfer, which should work natively under Windows but will require some setup on other OSes. I know with a Mac the trick is to install Google's Android File Transfer software on the computer. I know there is also a solution for Linux now, but don't offhand know what it is.

Bring down the Notifications , click on "Touch for other USB options." and select the other option.
I usually use a OTG cable & a Flash Drive to transfer things between my PC and Phone , its MUCH MUCH MUCH faster than connecting it to the PC.
