S5 near as durable as my S2?

Well, I've had my I9100 S2 for a couple years now. It's rooted and I am running a custom rom so I never felt the need to always upgrade my phone. Now that the S5 is out, I really am starting to take a shine to it. However, I hate the huge size of all the new samsung phones, so if I do upgrade it will be the S5 mini 100%.

The thing I love most about my S2 is the gorilla glass. I have dropped it on concrete, gravel, dirt, etc. and not a single scratch on the screen. Have never used a case. I have thrown it before and it still looks perfectly intact.

The S3 was horrible (my brother has one) for durability. Has samsung improved with the S4 and S5? I really do not want to get a phone case cause I hate the added bulk and appearence of a case to the point where I'd much rather just pay for repairs.

I have a friend at work with a S4.

He is on his 5th S4, they just do not hold up under the every day use he gives them
Right now, the screen is so fractured, I don't see how he can put up with it.

He does not use a case, carries it in his hip pocket. This last escapade was the result of a "Roman Candle" fight with a friend of his. He did not dodge quick enough and the fire ball hit the S4 on the screen. It totally shattered. It is still useable, but gawd what a fractured mess.

Sorry, are you meaning to say S5 or S4?

I'm wondering about the S5.

You asked also about a S4, and I explained that a friend has an S4.
I do not have experience with s2, s3, or s4.... so related what a friend's experience is. but I don't agree with his carelessness.

I have a S5 and it works great, never had a problem with it.

Sorry, I forgot I did mention the S4. Anyways, I don't really care about it cause I wouldn't buy it lol, but thanks for the info.

As far as your S5 however, Has it survived any potentially nasty accidents yet? Or do you have a case on it?
