S5 poor rear speaker

Hi all. I watch a lot of youtube on my phone. Im thinking about buying the s5, but when I try the speaker in store it's Extremely poor quality, worse then my iPhone 4s. What are your opinions of the rear speaker on samsung galaxy s5?

The HTC one m8 has stereo speakers and are plenty loud. Definitely worth a look if you listen with or without headphones a lot.

Who listens to a phone speaker anyways???
Remember the notebooks sounds? Only worse.
You want good sound, get good set of earbuds or headphones, then you get good sound.

Well thank you for the Good replies. I'm not overly interested in headphones because I lay in bed at night watching random YouTube clips (YouTube junkie) I currently watch them in my iPhone or iPad with my default speakers. iPad kind of annoys me with rear facing speaker and I'd imagine headphones to be mighty uncomfortable and a pain when your laying down. Or a pain in general if I walk around the house or go out and "forget " the ear phones.

I really like the UI on the s5, multitasking and camera and water proofing and IR blaster. Just in store I couldn't hear the music on loud and it sound super tinnie?/Tinny? I also have slight hearing loss. So that's important to note.

I think whoever advised on M8 don't flame them. It's a good idea, it's just I kind of hate the UI. And no I don't want to root the phone. The downward menu annoys me, the settings menu annoys me, the icons and faded dull colour screen annoys me. And the camera is smashed as bad in any NON-PAID for reviews/genuine. There was a uk site that I can't find that reviewed it really we'll.

Lastly I did think about the z2. The camera quality was less then s5. It has no IR blaster which I really wanted. The UI is the best out of all. It has two hours LESS battery life then the s5 and M8. So bah.

Someone make a decent phone!! But seriously, doesn't the loud speaker on s5 annoy you guys?

For a phone conversation, we use the speaker a lot so both of us can enjoy talking to our son.

For watching TV, I use LogicTec model F540 wireless headphones. I bought a couple pair 4 or 5 years ago for way too much money.... but they will produce the lowest low frequency sounds I have ever heard on a TV. Didn't realize TV audio was that good.

I go to sleep with them and wake up hours later with them still on my head. Nice comfy ear muffs on them. The rest of the house does not bother me.

Bit chunky for me. Interesting idea. I lay in the fetus position though. That's why I find headphones annoying.

You still didn't mention your opinion on the quality however of rear speaker.

The m8 is water proof, just not certified. There are videos Testing this. It also has an IR blaster. I use it daily and it works perfectly. About the camera, have you tried it out yourself? Test it yourself before you listen to over anal tests that emphasize differences to make the story more interesting. Not much I can say about the UI. It is the quickest along with default android but if you don't like it then you'll just have to weigh your pros and cons.

I also forgot to tell you that I normally sleep in a recliner. When I sleep in a normal bed, my sinuses stop up badly... and I use one of those neck pillows and the headphones nestle against it quite nicely w/o any pressure on my ears.

The S5's internal speaker to me sounds very good. I am comparing it though to the original internal speaker of the 'S' model. The speech from the S5 speaker is very clear and loud enough to wake the whole house when the Alarm Clock goes off each morning

Of course the internal speaker will never compare in quality to a round speaker that has a voice coil and paper/vinyl diaphragm.

I find that the speaker is crackly for my voicemail, but for sounds, ringtones, and music, or youtube it is clear, but could be louder without distorting. Because of the placement of it, if you hold your hand over the speaker, cupped like, toward the front, amplifies the sounds greatly!
