S5 problem

Guest
I have an S5 and i have a problem with my camera. Everytime i opened it it says: "Warning:Camera failed". I have tried everything: clear cache/data from the app manager , clear cache partition , safe mode , factory reset , restart and power off and it still doesn't work. Could you please give me some advice how to work this out? :(

If you use snapchat or a flashlight app, that could be causing it. Try to boot into safe mode and see if the camera works.

Turn on and use safe mode
  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key.
  3. When 'Samsung Galaxy S5' appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.

Hi , thanks for the advice but i already tried that like 2 times and it didn't work.

You can't get into safe mode? Or the camera does not work in safe mode?

If you really want to fix it we can try to flash the factory firmware.
It doesn't work in safe mode. Yes i really want to fix it. What does it mean to flash the factory firmware and how do i do it?

Maybe try installing a different camera app from the Play Store. Take a look at 'Open Camera', it's an Open Source and free alternative:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera
Hopefully it will work out for you. Hard to determine if your problem is something messed up with the original camera app or a hardware problem with the camera itself. Just speculating that it's the app, even if the main camera is the problem there's still the front camera. But if a different camera app also won't launch without an error message that might indicate a hardware problem. If you're so inclined, here's a link with step-by-step directions on replacing the camera module:

You can pick up a replacement camera on Amazon for around $15:
