Help S5 Repair?

Hi,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 that snapped in half when some drunk girl stood on it. She did make up for it though.

The damage isn't actually that bad considering. It needs a new screen obviously and a small part of the circuit board has chipped off.

I am insured but they want me to send it away for them to repair meaning I will lose all my data. This cannot happen as there is some very important data on the phones HD.

Is there a way to retrieve the data from the phones HD without having to fix the circuit board and downloading it onto a PC? Or is the HD embedded within the circuit board?

I apologise if this is the wrong section for this kind of query but I am a new member.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know but this is a good lesson to back up all your data before something like this happens. I can't imagine not backing up anything important on my phone, tablet or PC, it's just automatic habit for me. Mary

The only thing I am worried about is the memos as I had written a lot of important things in there. When I reset my S5 shortly after I bought it I was able to recover my memos by using my Samsung account. I hope I can do the same this time once it's fixed. However I went onto Samsung's website and logged in to my Samsung account but couldn't work out how to see my memos or any data on my account. Will I only be able to see this when I try to restore it on the phone?

I have a lot of memos too and just started playing around with this so not sure how it works. In memos if you click the 3 dots in the upper right and click account a message comes up to back up memos to your Samsung account. That's what I need to know after I do that where do I go on Samsung to access them? Also when you go to settings, accounts and click Samsung account then click your email address in there mine has sync calendar and sync memo. Mary

Yeah I did that last time and managed to recover them but I can't find them anywhere on Samsung's website. Very frustrating!

I am clueless is there a specific spot I go to on samsung to see backed up data? It was a lot easier with my LG as it made one big back up file of what ever i checked. Photos, settings contacts and such. I could store that file on the SD card and when reloading it restored my settings wallpaper and everything the way the phone was before I wiped it out.

Guess that was something exclusive on the 2 LG phones I had. I guess I need to get used to all this verizon cloud back up but wish there was a way to back up settings. I hate having to manually moving photos over to the SD card and on LG anything I downloaded like documents and photos automatically went to the SD card. I like this phone but it took some getting used to. Mary

The flash memory where your data is stored is bonded to the main logic board, and if that's damaged and dead. There are specialised data recovery companies that can often retrieve data from things like this, where they actually remove the flash memory from the board and read it directly, that law enforcement might use for forensic purposes, but is likely to be hundreds or thousands of dollars.
