Root s5 updated, lost root, wont update need help

ok everyone. im sorry, im sure this has been talked about before, but i really have no idea what to search....

i was on the original version of android that came with the phone. i waited patiently, and when the towelroot first came out, i rooted. froze all updates, samsungs security stuff etc through titatium backup.

so with all this lolipop stuff, i figured id look into getting lolipop. unfroze the updating things, and without realizing, it updated overnight. i lost root. no big deal i thought... ill just update all the way to lolipop, and eventually root that. the problem is, now it wont keep updating.

im currently on
android 4.4.2
baseband g900vvru1ane9
kernel 3.4.0
i read that the next update will not go through if it sees that i had previously been rooted.

in any event, the phone is slow as crap. i kind of just want to give up and go back to what came with it stock. but i need root. if i can get to lolipop and root, all the better. but for now, i just want to get root back and get my phone performing better. right now it is absurd how slow it is.

You will have to flash backwards to the version of the ROM you had when you did Towelroot.

The developer of Towelroot was hired by Google and he quit working on his own apps.

hey thanks folks. im going to try that link out cmichael. dont care about root just yet. i just want to get back to stock, and then ill worry about root. assuming there is still some sort of way to get root.

Towelroot still works on the version it was written for, it just won't ever be updated for later versions of KitKat
so if i follow those directions, ill be able to root and be back to what i was? thats great. then i just have to figure out how to update to lolipop and keep root.

Sounds like a plan... but I am just a messenger here.
I have never rooted a phone, just used Odin once or twice.

thats fine. i already lost root, so worse case, im still unrooted but ill be able to update.

the only reason i root is for titanium backup to restore all my stuff. which is a huge deal to me.

ohh and adblock.
