Help S6 active hotspot/root question?

I have an S6 active through AT&T. I recently upgraded to their unlimited date, and Hallelujah, you can't use your hotspot with it. My question is if there's a way around that to still use your hotspot. I tried FoxFi and it didn't work. I've never rooted a phone before or used one, but would that make it more possible? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
