S6 upgrade rough

TTPx

Lurker
I just upgraded from the S4 to the S6 and it was rather unpleasant.
Major gaps:
1. In the app drawer you can't jump from the first screen to the last - not by tapping the dots or by going all the way around
2. No agenda widget for the calendar
3. Smart Switch missed all the Moto 360 settings, and sounds, but changed the screens (the new ones might have been fun to try)
4. My headphone buttons don't seem to work.
5. Can't go full circle on the home screen

Minor Gaps
1. Smart Switch missed the sound settings, but changed the screens. The new ones might have been fun to try, but I like my sounds.
2. Tough to sort the app-drawer, but I got it eventually. The circles with the large icons that blow out when you hover were much prettier/cooler.

Are their workarounds for some of these touchwiz downgrades?

All is forgiven. It does a really good job of picking up conference codes. Very Blackberry-esque this improvement is.

I had pretty much the same reaction that you did to the interface changes. It's inexplicable that Samsung would step backwards and the make the S6 more difficult to navigate the home screens and the app drawer. Love the hardware and screen but for an $800 dollar phone I expected much more refined usability not regression.

Another big downgrade - the alarm clock. Why can't it tell me how far out the alarm is? The old one said "Alarm set for 8 hours 3 minutes." This was very comforting. What if I mess up a.m./p.m. or a timezone calc. They also got rid of the briefing.
