S7 Opening random apps automatically

Hi There,

I have noticed some strange things happening with my Galaxy S7 recently.

For example:

• When I unlock the phone there are random apps opening, some I have not used in a long time.
• When I open apps such as gmail or whatsapp they open with really old conversations or mails from months ago.
• When I open gallery it also opens old photos from months ago.
• Sometimes the screen activates without be touch it.

I am paranoid that the phone has been hacked or is being accessed by someone.

Could anyone help explain this or provide guidance on what to look for?

typical testing: power off/on the phone, delete unwanted/unused apps, safe mode to eliminate 3rd party app issues, factory reset and fresh start (no restore from backup)

is there another way without deleting everything from the phone?
