Help Safe Mode and "Battery Required"

Hello everyone!
Brand new here and thought you could help me, seeing as how VM tech support couldn't find their way out of a paper bag.

Two or three nights ago, I opened my phone up to find a little big of moisture in it. (It was a couple or drops and I have no clue where they came from). Anyway, my phone began acting wonky and everytime I'd turn it on, it'd say "battery required", even if the battery was in and the phone would turn on like normal everytime the battery was inserted. Just to be safe, I put it in some rice for the night.

It turned on once the next morning in safe mode, so I turned it off and on and it brought me to the same screen. I then booted it from recovery and it turned on just fine. However I've been noticing several things:

My data goes out more frequently than usual, the phone also lags. It also said that it wasn't charging when it was and now says that it's charging when it's not. Afterwards, I called and VM offered me some support and shipped a new phone. I got the new phone and put the battery in and it said the same thing.

I have a rooted phone that I worked hard to perfect. Id hate to lose everything on a new phone. Is there anything I can do? VM said they'd send me a new battery and to just sit tight until they did, however I'm worried my phone may go out. And is there anyway to turn the "Safe Mode" booting off. It's been booting alot more in it lately. (It used to only do it every so often, now it's like, every other time I turn my phone on when I reboot it goes to recovery).

Not sure about how to disable safe mode, but if you have all of your data in a nandroid backup, just copy that to an external SD card or to a computer, and transfer it back on the new phone. I would use the unbricking method and install everything fresh (root and ROM), then restore your data via this guide, fix permissions in CWM, and then all should be well.

It sounds like its just a bad battery at this point. If you have CWM, try going into recovery and deleting battery stats. That's helped me before with similar issues. I second Artines advice to backup to an SD card. If I'm ever feeling extra paranoid about loosing my data I'll upload a nandroid to my dropbox account.
