Safely disable google now launcher

So I've done a lot of research yet still can't find an answer. I use nova launcher on my s60, an I've disabled google now launcher an the google app. Every time i do this an shut the phone off for any reason it gets stuck in a boot loop. If i leave them enabled, it's fine. I'm curious if theirs a way to safely disable them without going into a boot loop.

Can you not just set Nova as your default launcher and be done with it? What are you using to disable Google now?

Oh i can, that's what i have been doing. I'm more curious because of battery life. Some days i listen to music via bluetooth all day at work an have 75% battery when i get home. Some days under the same scenario i come home an I have 50% left. I'm just trying to eliminate things I don't use. Same like i rolled google play services back to the original version that came with my phone along with all the few apps I have. An the battery was great for 3 or 4 days, then it went down hill. I'm just looking to find out what's messing with the phone.

As far as google now launcher, once i roll that back to the factory version an option came up to disable it. I've done this 4 times an each time it would result in a boot loop. If i roll it back to factory but leave it enabled, the phone restarts just fine. I'm just curious if it's possible without rooting the device. I'm also having issues with connecting my phone to my computer with adb, but that's a problem on the pc side.
