Hi,
Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini SCH-I435. In an effort to gain root access, per numerous sites on the net with detailed instructions, I have done the following:

1. Enabled USB Debugging on the phone
2. Installed USB drivers on the computer
3. Installed SDK Tools and ADB
4. Downloaded and expanded Saferoot specifically for this phone.

The command "adb devices" shows the phone is connected.

When I run safe root.exe, it requests confirmation for installation. I enter Y, press return. It then asks to connect the phone and press any key. With the phone connected, pressing any key results in the command window disappearing. There is no indication of safe root running.

Any suggestions on where I am going wrong in this process?

Thanks!

If you followed the intructions here, particularly the part about the phone being unlocked (lockscreen) and the screen on, I can only assume that either your phone is not running Android 4.3, or is an unsupported device (from the thread: "It 's known to work for may[sic] GS4 variants… "). IOW, many, but not all.

It turned out that the problem was I was running the safe root exe in a Windows VM on a Mac. The file location was in the PATH as a local folder, yet looked like a network location in Explorer, I think the process was unable to see necessary files because of this. Once i changed DIR in the command window to the actual file location, it ran as expected. Thanks for the suggestions.
