The big confusion these days to new rooted razr users are the following

Bootstrap
"which one do I need?"
When you rooted your device, you had several reasons of doing so... themeing, tweaking, modding, and flashing roms, and gettin your hallway pass for tethering. So, which of the following should you install for what reasons? Everyone has their own opinions while some people play their own game. so, whos right?
If you rooted your razr and want to stick with motorolas stock firmware but your brave enough to theme and tweak, your looking to install Bootstrap. Bootstrap gives users the privilege of flashing into the stock firmware (which is dangerous if you dont know what your doing) People did this so that they could mod their phone but keep a distance to where they were thw responsible one for any damage done to their device. Boostrap was created for people who wanted that cool theme, or that leaked beats audio mod, or that kickass UI ripped from the galaxy S3 to add to their system. The bad thing about boostrap is that nandroids generally dont flash correctly or backup correctly and can damage your device. A small Con to the expert flashers or a fear of noob flashers. Bootstrap is NOT MENT FOR ROMS, reason being... you cant save yourself if something goes wrong.
Safestrap a nifty application that installs a small bootloader on hidden memory in your razr, like bootstrap but with more ability. Safestrap allows the user to backup their system and "safestrap" their device from harm. By doing this, users can enable "safemode" which partitions freed memory in their device for a rom and keeps the stock system backed up in the background so the user doesnt tamper with the system. When the user flashes a rom in safemode, the rom is installed in that hidden partition and allows the system to use a "ghost kernel" to boot the system. So custom rom users always have their safe system enabled. If the user disables safe system, the custom rom is forgotten and the stock system is enabled and any original 3rd party apps installed at the time will be restored and that system will boot when the device reboots without safesystem enabled. Safestrap will not allow a user to flash while safemode is disabled to protect the stock system. "hence the name"
While running a custom rom, the user is allowed to then flash flashable zips (themes, mods, ect) making bootstrap useless.
I hope this clears up anything in the razr forums as Ive helped many of you already and safestrap was to blame as the user didn't understand how to use it.
