Safeway sucks too

There was supposed to be this big sale on pasta and sauce. I guess the pasta kinda was but not the topping, almost $4 a bottle. Then the bag ripped when I dragged it off the bus. I get really tired of these ripoffs, but there:s probably no good place to buy anything.

safeway here in LA are all vons now. the vons near me is pretty top notch. never had any issues. produce is decent. the meat dept is adequate, but i usually buy my meats at costco. this economy sucks so you just need to be careful on how and what you buy.

curious @Rgarner the shopping bag ripped? if so was it paper or plastic bag? or the bag of pasta?

Yeah, Safeway is a big chain of supermarkets. It's part of a larger group. Not long ago it and kroger were trying to force a merger. People were lucky that the court said no and then one of them sued the other...honor among thieves. Monopolies should not be allowed. Anyway, the paper bad holding the groceries tore when I was between buses. I was going to correct that typo but "paper bad" IS correct. The pasta was in boxes and they survived, along with those glass jars of sauce. It's almost impossible to get plsstic bags these days, and if there are any they'll probably cost, maybe 10¢ each. The cashier asked if I wanted a bag. At first I said no but then decided to take it. Then she gave me crap about how she'd have to charge for that. Fine, I'll just get it at another part of the store. She was grinching at everybody, I guess, and I think we were all relieved when her replacement got there. Whatver happened to customer service?

P.S. I contacted them via their website and they lied they would get back to me. That was just after it happened and still nothing. I don't know how they stay in business.

Yeah, that'd be a good idea. Next time maybe I'll do that. It doesn't help with surly clerks and iees about sale prices, though.

I was opposed to the self-checkout stands when they were first introduced. I usually have good rapport with the clerk at a traditional check out station. It's the people in line that bug me. I seek the self-checkout areas now. I avoid the bitchy people and their crying children as well as the I changed my mind and don't want this or I can't afford that people. I particularly enjoy avoiding the person that requires a manager to convince them that an item rang up correctly and the item in question was not on sale and was going to cost them another fifteen cents.
