So, I'm new to this site and most things techie. To be frank, (well I'm Miki actually, but that's besides the point.) I'm really quite ignorant and useless when it comes to computers and smart phones and the like. I'm considering taking on something that I may regret and need the advice and expertise of someone much more intelligent than myself. So I will be posting my question in the appropriate category shortly. I live in the bay area, love photography, music, classic cars and all things retro. I belong to a local pinup modeling group called Dolls & Betties...you can locate our page on Facebook and if you reside in the San Francisco Bay Area I strongly encourage you to come to any of our events and show your support!

Well there are plenty of people here happy to help with any questions. If it's something you're unsure about, the best advice I can give is to ask first and make sure you know what you are doing before you do it - avoiding problems is always better than having to fix them ;)

That's exactly why I'm here! So let me tell the embarrassing truth. I am currently playing a game called dragonvale...I downloaded an app called apk to help with the game but I have to root my phone to use it. I've been doing a lot of reading on the subject and I believe that I want to do this but I've read several warnings that if I'm inexperienced I could really screw up my phone. I'm not looking to do too many customizations but I don't know where to begin. Hell I'm not even sure how to post here! I tried posting a new message in the "all things root forum" but I can't figure out how to start a new thread. Whomever takes on the challenge of walking me thru this has their work cut out for them! But I could seriously use some guidance
 
The "New Thread" button is fairly small, blue, and at the top-left of the list of posts in a forum. TBH I often find it hard to spot! I guess you'll be wanting this forum: (Sprint) Galaxy Note 2 - All Things Root - Android Forums.

Rooting is definitely something to understand before doing. Even if there is a "one click" rooting tool (don't know the Note II, so can't say) I'd recommend reading up and understanding first.

For pictures, I can see your profile pic, but the one that shows next to your posts is called the "avatar". So in the user control panel, select "Edit Avatar" from the side bar. Note that there are limits on the size of the image, so if it's too large you'll need to shrink it to fit (Staff, and Premium (paid) members, can use larger images). It will tell you what the maximum size is.

Oh, just noticed that you are using Tapatalk! It's much easier to do avatars with a web browser.

To start a new thread in Tapa, press the menu key and select "new topic" while you are viewing the subforum you want to post to.
