Help Samaung S3 Contacts Problem - Integrated Groups

Hello all,

I've had my Samsung S3 for a week now, and I have very happy with it so far.

There is one thing I just cannot fathom, however. I have rather a lot of contacts due to work, etc (just having the 'co-workers' group creates difficulties for me). In my previous phone, I managed contacts by having different customized groups. With the S3, I seem unable to change the integrated group names. For example, I can't delete individual integrated groups or add text/information to them, so I can have a single 'Friends and Family' group, rather than two separate groups as 'family' and 'friends'.

I've trawled the internet and cannot find anything, so if anyone on here could help me, that would be superb. Thank you in advance.

Richard.

I received a new Galaxy S 3 for Xmas, and I would also like to remove the UNNECESSARY Co-Workers Group from my Contacts list. I don't see any way to do it in the current release of the OS.

Richard, just joined forum to answer your problem. I've searched & found you need to:-
Go to Google Play and install TouchPal Contacts.
Open TouchPal.
Delete the default groups.
Uninstall TouchPal.

The groups will now be gone from your stock contact app and you can create your own groups under "Groups" in the stock app.

It worked for me so good luck!!

Can you tell me if the S3 mini allows you to edit/use these contact groups without dropping the other contacts used in Outlook.

I added people to the Co-worker group only to find that the other groups I had them in on Outlook were then deleted.

Adding the other groups back in on Outlook removes them from the phone co-worker group again.

The Samsung groups don't seem to work with more than 1 Outlook group.

Anyone else found this or a way round it..?
