Same-Sex Marriage

I agree with this. I have never ever heard of that argument before... especially by straight married couples. Perhaps for good reason. I've never even heard of it before from single people either. Maybe I need to talk to more single people if they feel that marital rights are discriminatory against them and myself and figure out what the arguments are to get rid of marital rights because I honestly have no idea. I, as a single person, do not feel discriminated against because married couples have benefits that I don't have. Should I?

hrmmm. the company i work for offers the same benefits to same sex partners as they do to straight married couples. yet I, who has been with my girlfriend for 4 years, are not offered any benefits that can be applied to her.

pretty neat huh?

edit: i now see Martimus has covered this already. i don't see anyone bleeding for him or me except copestag.

homosexuality is biologically unviable. that's why i dislike it. i could care less if they want to get married, have a civil union. etc... love who you want to love, marry who you want to marry.

for the same reason i moved away from CA. i don't like their laws about certian things i find important in my life.

So then you should have no problem whatsoever switching to a company that provides better benefits for you and your girl. Like i mentioned in another post, my company allows one to put their partner on their insurance, opposite sex or same sex, married or unmarried, after they can prove 6 months (or a year, cant remember) of living together. We're nationwide, and we're hiring.

i doubt your company will be able to match my salary. this affords me the ability to buy alternate sources of insurance for my girlfriend.

sadly, nothing i can do will change CA's 2nd amendment shortcomings.

if i have other ways to take care of things important in my life, i do it. if i don't i move to where it it's no longer a problem.

think you had the answer by using my solution, huh? nice try, too bad you didn't.

I learned a long time ago that comparing salaries is a bad idea because nobody knows what any of us make.

as i said, i doubt that company would be able to match my salary. why do you think i stay with this company? no one else that i've had offers from have been able to match it.

i don't give 2 shits what she makes. i'm not comparing anything. i'm just stating a truth.

I think you made the comparison or at least brought it up. I can guess what a System's Engineer makes, however.

It turns out, according to the Census Bureau, that lasting marriages create more wealth for their partners than single life. A 15-year study of 9,000 people found that those who married and stayed married during that time built up nearly twice the net worth of people who stayed single. In fact, married couples realized the equivalent of an extra 4 percent of income growth annually.

From: 365 Reasons to Stay Married

Seems to me that there are more reasons for the government to give marriage benefits than old, outdated prejudicial ones. More net worth equates to more money flow, equates to better government income. I don't see this move as prejudicial at all. Help the gov out and they will help you.

We also tend to want to reward people for starting families. Sure a homosexual couple isn't going to reproduce, but they can always adopt. Far more married couples adopt than do single persons. We all know there are plenty of kids out there to adopt, so IMO the point that homosexuals cannot biologically reproduce is moot...
