Samsung accessories?

Usually right around the same time. Maybe a month after at most. Samsung tends to price their stuff very high though. Sometimes it can be worth the wait for aftermarket stuff.

Some people are willing to pay extra to have an official accessory though, and there is value in that -- you know it will fit/work/etc.

A lot of it is a matter of opinion.

The only thing I personally feel is not needed with these things are screen protectors, (unless you live by a beach)

The Carrier will possible get some of the 3rd party cases but accessories are usually weeks and even months later from Samsung and quite expensive.

I did get the CaseMate Tough and Barely There case. I hate the soft silicone cases as they will actually damage the phone after time and collect crud.

I've never paid attention re: Samsung stuff, but the last phone I purchased -- a Droid X -- had cases, screen protectors and everything else you can imagine available on site the day it launched, when I bought the phone. I'm not sure what VZW's store return policy is, but I generally buy a generic-ish case and screen protectors, and if I see better cases online I return the store-bought case after I've received the online case(s) when applicable. The generic cases I bought on launch day for the X worked for me so I never bothered going to Seidio or anyone else for better alternatives. And since most new phones seem to use micro USB ports to charge, nothing new beyond a case and a screen protector, if you're so inclined, seem to be necessary. At least not to me.
