Root Samsung admire and linux

I have a samsung admire i was gonna install a custom rom for a friend and was wondering if it will let me add files to the sd card if i connect it too ubuntu 12.04?(The phone through usb)I searched the forums but couldnt find anything.Also,would anyone suggest this as a good/stable custom rom to start on? "Monsteria++" something without all the metro pcs bloatware would be nice thanks

I dont see why not? and monsteria is a pretty stable rom/theme. Check its thread out for reviews, and such

LOK i dont know anything about Ubuntoo but i can help you with your rom questions...

Basically you need 4 things

Rooted Phone (Not Posting Links)
CWM installed (Not Posting Links)

Req's OC Kernel (allows you to OC to 900mhz)
A Rom (i suggest Lunar-Gen its very snappy and no bugs as of now)

Optional Things

Themes (Carbon Theme is very nice)
Beats Audio (Not an app just changes some system files to sound like Beats audio)
Poweramp (Music Player App that enhances the music to go along side of Beats)

Thanks for the help! I ended up installing monsteria and it worked great I had use a sd card reader cause i could not get it to connect on either a windows 7 machine or ubuntu 12.04.I installed the drivers for the phone,but it never popped up.

I just couldn't find usb mass storage on the phone.almost like metro took it off for some reason.lol.I believe it runs on 2.3.4.Has anyone else had that many problems trying to connect this phone to a computer in general?

Did you try the connection on the front of the computer? I always have a problem using the USB ports on the tower...

Try plugging the phone directly into the motherboard... (the back of the tower)

You need to pull the indicator shade down on the phone then touch "enable USB Mass Storage". In Ubuntu you don't have to install any drivers. Hope this helped.

Yes, this happened to me probably a week or two ago. The USB drivers failed to install on Windows 7. I don't remember everything, but I either removed the drivers and attempted a reinstall, or simply was able to reinstall right of the bat. Any way you look at it, reinstall the drivers and see.
