Samsung app permissions?

I just checked and found that the S3's music player app have permissions to read email attachments and sms/mms. The samsung video player app also has permissions to read, edit and receive sms/mms. Why is that?

I also checked the the data usage under settings and found that the video app used 55mb of data on one day. I have know idea why.

Is there a logical reason for these permissions? This really concerns me since they are part of the phones system apps.

1. Sending MMS.
2. Uploading to your Picasa. Check you Google Account sync options to make sure Picasa is not checked. If it is, it means your phone uploads all photos and videos you take.

Thanks, but no Picasa is not synced and that should sync under the camera app not the video player.

Anyone else concerned about this?

no one should really be concerned at all by permissions. Seen countless devs say they need permissions to perform basic functions and you really shouldn't jump the gun on it especially if it's a very popular app. Unless it's a random app outside of the Google Play store then you're going to be fine..

haha.

OK so if you receive an email or mms and its attachment is a music or video clip, you want to be able to open it with the music of video player, right?

Similarly if you have a music or video clip that you are playing in the music or video player. You want to be able to share it via email or mms?
