Samsung Captivate can't play videos

Newbie
Hi. I read through one of the threads on this site and tried what they suggested and still can't play video on my Samsung Captivate.

I used Handbreak and another converter and still no luck. The video looks like its going to start and then says the video can't stream on this device. I took video on my Canon Camera and just want to convert it to watch on my Captivate. I'm new to my phone so I apologize in advance for being a novice. Thanks!

What settings did you use to convert it in handbrake? Download MediaInfo on your computer, open the file in there, switch to Tree View, and copy the results here. Then I can see whats wrong with it.

You shouldn't need any conversion to playback on a Captivate...

Any more information about the problems you can give us?

I couldn't copy in tree view but I could in text view. This is one of the variations I tried. I tried a few based on different posts I have read. The Canon records as avi and I know that's not supported. I link the video using Dropbox to my Captivate. I've tried opening with the default video player and I also downloaded Meridian. The message I get is that it can't stream to this device.

I also tried Bigasoft Video Converter and it did this:

General
Complete name : C:\Documents and Settings\Chris OHara\Desktop\snipits.mp4
Format : MPEG-4
Format profile : Base Media
Codec ID : isom
File size : 1.39 MiB

I see where to change the cabac setting off but not the codec from main to baseline. I don't see that terminology used at all. Do I use one of the presets on the right side of the screen - ie. ipod Legacy? I thought someone mentioned that.

I just tried the free Real Player Converter I had on my pc and told it to convert for Apple iPhone and then transferred the file to my Samsung and the video plays fine! This is good enough for me! Thanks so much!
