Help Samsung Driver Problem

Lurker
When I plug my Samsung Moment into my Computer it charges and but the computer doesn't recognize it. I don't know if it matters that I'm using a lg usb cable. I am trying to update my Moment to Android 2.2 but it wont work because of this.

Did you turn off usb debugging?

menu > settings > applications > development > un check usb debugging

don't forget that you also have to mount the sd card via the phone after plugging in the cable.

For the 2.2 upgrade, different drivers are installed along with the upgrade tool. Make sure to clear off any other samsung usb drivers that may have been installed. Follow the update tool's directions. If the install seems to stall out after starting the upgrade (you'll see a progress bar) wait a few minutes and if it doesn't move, un plug and re plug the cable. It says specifically not to do this, but I've found it works to start up a stalled install. Good luck!

First, what version of windows or mac are you using. Second, if using mac then all you need to do...
1) hit menu key
2) select notifications
3) select usb connected
4) say okay or yes to when asked to connect to the mac or activate connect usb to mac.

You should see the icon for the samsung moment microsd card on your screen or in finder.

If it is windows....I am told per poohface @ Samsung Moment Driver/s? - SprintUsers.com that Win vista/7 should already have the drivers for your phone. Per this forum you need to disable usb debugging mode and turn your phone off and on. That should fix the issue.

Some non-OEM cables do not always offer the same functionality as the OEM samsung usb charging data cable. That might be the issue.

Hope this helps.

I've had no problems with WinXP automatically installing the needed usb drivers, too. To make sure you're starting clean (no Samsung usb drivers on your comp), try a program called USBDeview.
