Help Samsung Droid Phone is very sluggish

Hello Friends,
My phone is sometimes extremely extremely sluggish to the point that I wanna throw it out the windows. The Advanced Task Manager shows almost no apps running to kill. There are several services that are running but I don't know of any other way other to reboot the phone to kill them and then after sometime the phone becomes sluggish again. Any solutions?

My Charge had slowed down and was taking a long time to re-populate the home screens when coming out of apps and the browser. Someone suggested switching from the stock TouchWiz Launcher to GoLauncher EX which I did several months ago. I'm not sure why, but the phone is quicker and it got rid of the delays in re-populating home screens.

After I decided to keep GoLauncher, I went back into TWLauncher and deleted all my widgets to make sure they weren't running in the background.

I really like GoLauncher which has a lot of free add-ons. After I decided to keep it, I paid a buck for the Black Gloss Theme which I think looks pretty good.

Hope this helps,
Rich

We've seen it go both ways with regard to which launchers users report success with. I think it has a lot more to do individual user configuration than the launcher itself, although TouchWiz does seem to have a reputation for being tossed in favor of many others (ADW for me), even though some swear that the 3rd party launchers are harder on the system than the stock version.

Sometimes a look in application manager and running services can help, but the syncing apps/widgets are the big drain for many users: weather widget auto updating, news, Gmail, Facebook, etc. Anything that offers auto sync over manual sync can drain resources (even battery life).

Same problem here. When the GB update came out, the phone was fast and snappy for a long time, but has gradually gotten slower and more lag. Based on checking what apps/processes are running when it's slow, I've found that more and more apps are running in the background than did after the GB update.

Looks like the apps have caught up with the GB update and now run even when you don't want or use them.

It gripes me so much that I want to throw the phone at a Google or Verizion CEO when I see apps that I've never used or wanted running on the phone.

Give me back my Motorola Flip Phone! It had great signal strength and reception!

I might have a bag phone for you if you want.
