I've had the AT&T GSII since day one. I initially setup my gmail account via the stock Samsung e-mail app and never even opened the Gmail app. I've gotten used to it since I have a yahoo and an exchange account there as well. I haven't had any issues until a day or so ago.
I noticed that the notification sound I set for gmail in the Samsung client changed out of the blue. Investigating, I checked the settings and lo and behold, it was set correctly. As I continued looking around, I figured out that the gmail app itself was sending the "new" notification sound, effectively overriding the Samsung client.
Up until now, I was receiving gmail notifications in the Samsung client just like I was for the yahoo and exchange accounts. All had separate notification sounds. Now it seems that the Gmail app has taken precedence, and it doesn't matter what i set in the Samsung version. I'd love to have it back the way it was, as I like the unified inbox and access to all account settings from a central page.
I'm still a relative noob with Android, so any insight you can provide would be appreciated!
