Samsung Galaxy 551 Questions

I am getting a Samsung Galaxy 551 and i have some questions, I am new with Android.

1. How to install Apps from PC

2. How to Install Custom ROM's Such as Arkas(Any Version Plus Apps that come with it such as Swashbuckler) and if Possible With a Video.

I know how to root/use Odin but I don't know what to expect.

Is there any way to unbrick the phone if it does happen? i was going to do a gearloose backup before hand just incase.

if it does happen is there any way?
 
Depends on the brick actually
Soft brick and medium brick can be easily recovered with an odin flash .

Hard brick happens when some one decides to install ROM manager and clockworkmod recovery (or tries to install custom recovery )
In that case ,you are out of options

Arkas has a very less fault rate .If you follow the instructions ,you will have Phone running in 4 minutes flat .

Do a gearloose data backup only
a total backup will overwrite default samsung and you wont be able to enjoy arkas thoroughly .
 
What Carriers do the apn list support? i know it supports most European and Asia networks, does it support other countries like north america?

and

Is there any firmware for north american phones, all i can find are the ones on samfirmware are the euro, arab, asian and indian firmwares.

NOTE: as of now i dont know the GT-I5510XXXXXX code since i do not have the phone on me for the correct firmware
 
There is a mention of T-Mobile US,Verizon and SprintPCS in the apn's but no one ever tested it so I cant say for sure if they actually support it .

You are absolutely right .
samfirmware usually provides european and asian firmwares

They have just recently started distributing US firmwares .They have a seperate section for US phones .You will have to request them for your firmware .The only difference will be that US ROMs will have different amss_phone and CSC .(Radio/language)

Arkas is PDA so till you just flash PDA,no functionality will be lost .
 
How would i send a request for the frimware? can you give me a link or something like that?

and would it have no problem working on a service provider not on the list? or how can i get such files to get it to or work with the apn?
 
Apn settings are provided by network .If your apn is not listed ,not to worry .Just give a call to the carrier customer care and they send the settings to your phone immediately .

Honestly I have no idea of contacting them now .Earlier non-premium memebers could contact them easily .By looks of it you need to be premium member to contact them
