Help Samsung Galaxy - googlemail.

Got my new phone yesterday had a good play about with it. Logged in the google account, but I dont know how to log out.
On my old phone I had to load internet, go through bookmarks and then find googlemail, this OBVIOUSLY is automatically straight through to my googlemail as soon as I click it and I dont like the idea that its automatically signed in. I can access my googlemail using the INTERNET option, so I'd rather just log out of google on the googlemail icon - but no idea how to do it.
Anyone have any ideas?

This may or may not work, but you could try this;

On one of your home screens, do a long press, select shortcut, select settings, select running services

Once thats done, just click it, click on googlemail service (if there is one) and stop it, then as far as google mail is concerned you "should" just have to wait for your session to time out, and then you will be logged out, but this could take 10-15 mins ish depending on how long google has its user time-outs set for.
 
In the running services the only GOOGLE thing is googletalk, I did stop that but it says may affect the running of googletalk. It APPEARS that its not logged in?? But when I click on googlemail it shows INBOX(0)...there doesnt seem to be any emails EVER which was one thing that I was curious about, but then I can look in archive and just can't log out.
 
I had the same issue........really did not like my email account being soo easily accessible. The only way I managed to sort it was to restore the phone to factory settings, then I started from scratch. I set up a new gmail account and I use that on my phone..........I don't actually use the account, but its the one that opens when you click on the email thing on the phone. I'm sure there is probably a way to log out of it but I tried for ages and couldn't figure it and that was the only other option I could think of!
 
Thanks Twisted Fairy, thats exactly what I have done. Someone suggested factory settings, and so I did that and obviously it logged out the gmail, but then I went to access MARKET and it said I needed a gmail account signed in - so I felt I had defeated the object. So I did the same, made a totally random account just for that use.
I absolutely love my phone, but this is a little side I dont like...might find a way around it, but even though my old phone was no where near as good as this, I could access my emails easily, but they werent just "there" available. I used to load internet and then bookmarks and my email account was in there, I've not quite sussed how to do that on this yet lol, but I am sure I will...so at the moment I am accessing gmail through the internet option, but signing in and out, which is a little bit long winded but I just dont want my email account so erasily available.
 
There is a separate e-mail app as well as the gmail app that comes with the phone. You can set it up with any account, but I believe it also logs you in automatically. So I'm not sure that would help. There are also apps you can download from the market that will password protect your apps including gmail. That might be a better option for you. Personally the reason I went for a andorid phone was the easy access to all things google, but it's a personal choice. If you want even more security you can also add a screen lock patter to access your phone in settings>security&Location. I hope you contiune to enjoy your new phone!
 
Once you're logged into your phone, all apps are open.

Your only option is to install an App Protector. See App Protector

To close any unwanted apps, you can install a task killer. Set it to enable backghround kill of apps.

Search for TasKiller Free on Market.
 
Hope you got it sorted out, Im looking to get a new fone and been looking at the one you have, I also need it for gmail but dont want it auto logged in.
 
Never sussed how to do it, just kept the email addy for the sake of the phone and access my gmail thru the internet......still LIVE, but harder to access.

Having had this fone for a few weeks, I know it better now. N one thing I'll say is if security is any kind of issue with yer fone then I wouldnt recommend this fone STAR. The password is joining 9 dots, which there is surely only so many possible patterns - as I am finding out as my daughter finds pleasure in cracking it...texts, although deleted from inbox/outbox and call logs are STILL logged in your fone and still easy to find, and your emails are permenantly logged in and FB - u can log out of FB but it does mention sum kind of issue so its not really advisable.
IF u went for this fone then I'd suggest u used the internet facility for yer gmail, and just use a random email for the fones EMAIL REQUIREMENT.
 
I've had this phone for a while now,

you know when you first get the phone, you like to play around with it and all sorts well basically i was playing/looking on ma phone, then I created my own Google account on my phone, (Samsung galaxy) and obviously I had a password for when my phone locks, then my little sister was playing on my phone and obviously she guessed so many times she blocked my phone. /:
and now every time I turn it on, it says

I recently got this phone and was initially delighted with it. However I soon discovered that it eats data big time! Between Saturday evening and Monday afternoon it had used a whopping 500 MB of data!:eek: I wasn't on it that much and didn't stream anything. I went on Facebook a few times, checked my email and downloaded an update for Android. I made sure that the background data and auto sync were off. Last night I scoured the internet to try to discover an answer for this. I downloaded a couple of apps, such as Stats and App Killer to help me find the culprit. The only thing I could pinpoint was the googlemail account you are forced to set up when you first get the phone. Whether you have background data and sync turned off or not it constantly uses data. I restored the factory settings and did not set up the google account this time and strangely enough the data usage has gone down considerably. I have also been using wifi mostly (it does have a nasty habit of flicking back to 3G when it wants to though!). The only problem I have now that I cannot download or use any apps without the blasted google account! I guess the only option is to get an unlimited internet add on from 3 on top of my 1 GB monthly allowance. I was of course assured that the 1GB would suffice but I think that may have been another lie!

One thing I really dont like about this phone. I just wanted to change the gmail account attatched to my phone and I couldnt, there was no way at all to log out and to log in with a different account, the only way I could do it was to factory reset and sort of delete the account but doing so deleted everything off my phone.

So now I've had to re-install everything I had, but also I've lost some things because I cant remember passwords etc relating to accounts.
 
If your that worried about apps/email being too easily accessable then

A) set up a sim lock, so you can't boot the phone without the code.
B) set up the unlock pattern, I would advise with the unlock pattern to change its settings, as having the pattern visable just makes it way too easy to crack, and well its just dumb. Also turn off the vibration, and keep in mind the pattern can go in any direction, as well as diagonal.
 
Hi Friends,

I buy new Samsung Galaxy phone,

First, I am unable to connect with my PC, I am using windows XP SP 3, first time when I connect to the PC it asked for the drivers, I ignore that, but now its not showing any message when I connect to PC, I have installed Samsung PC Suit as well, but its not working.

Second I need your help to know that how can I remove the shortcuts. I have made 2 shortcuts on screen (facebook) it was already showing on screen, but by mistake I added the same icon for facebook on screen now I want to remove it, please let me know how can I do it.
