Help Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime adoptable storage

i just bought my galaxy j7 prime, its currently on marshmallow 6.0.1 version, i want to try adoptable storage on it, i tried reformatting my sd card (32GB U3) and use it as internal storage but it cant, it only format it as portable storage.
i tried installing adb setup 143 and use command prompt, inputting these commands
- adb devices
- adb shell
- sm list-disks
- sm list-volumes all
- sm set-force-adoptable true
- sm partition disk:179,32 private
- sm set-force-adoptable false
- sm list-volumes all
- reboot
after the reboot, my device reboots, but nothing happens, my sd card is still on portable storage...
please help!

Does your phone's OS support adoptable storage? I don't know this model, but Samsung specifically didn't include it in recent flagship models. I'd have thought that if it was there you could do it through the menus rather than messing with adb, but as I say I don't actually know this device so can't be sure whether what you've done should work or not.

My understanding is that to use an SD card as internal storage it must be formatted on the device. The card is encrypted and can only be used on that device. This would infer that if you don't have the option to 'Format as internal', use as internal storage is not supported.

The adoptive storage is just a software tweak so manufacturers can disable it in their custom ROM.

It seems that everybody wants this feature but personally I don't recommend it unless you have no other option.

Using the SD card as portable storage is more secure and convenient. It's very bad idea to fill up the SD card with frequently used apps and its data.

With adoptive storage, the phone takes a dump for whatever reasons, then you're left with an SD that can't be read by anything else, and all apps and their data, all photos, videos, music, docs. etc. are irretrievable.

AFAIK Samsung have disabled adoptive storage in 6.x Marshmallow on all their devices with original Samsung firmware.

So we would assume that the adoptive storage is not necessary for everyone, and unless you know how it works and you really need it, just stay with the portable storage option, at least your data will remain intact in case of water immersion or physical damage to the phone.

Sure we've had posts about adoptive storage, where users have broken and trashed phones, and asking how can they get their priceless photos and videos back from their strongly encrypted and scrambled SDs.

Ask the NSA, how they might do it.

All my pictures and crap gets saved to a cloud.... What do i care that i cant get them off the stupid sd card... U suck Samsung... So tired of the samsung ROM.....

(WHY DOES SAMSUNG PUSH ME SO HARD ONTO THEIR CLOUD AND LIMIT THIS FEATURE? A REASONABLE EXPLANATION IS THAT IT'S A TACTIC TO GET YOU TO BUY ANOTHER PHONE... I'M NOT BUYING ANOTHER SAMSUNG...)

Do you want to provide a bit of context for that, or is it just something you wanted to get off your chest rather than something you wanted help with?

I think you were talking to me so I will answer. I was getting something off my chest yes, but I think that it is helpful to share my frustration with the brand to help all of us as consumers.

Ok, but the bit about "I can't get them off the sd card" sounded like there may be a fixable problem there.

Personally I agree that all manufacturer-specific backups, app stores or payment features are at least in a significant part intended to lock the buyer in to that manufacturer. Which is why I don't use any of them (e.g. I have a Samsung tablet but have never created a Samsung account).
