Help Samsung galaxy note 4 unlock

Hi guys, I need to unlock my Note 4 due to moving carrier Im on o2 UK. Am I right in thinking I could just flash another firmware to my phone for the carrier I wish to use? Or flash an unbranded firmware? All answers are really appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure how it works with O2, but most carriers here in the States require that you fulfill your contract so some extent before they give you the unlock code for a device.
Flashing another firmware won't unlock it.

Yeah either ring o2 and ask for an unlock code (think it's called a PUC) or search eBay for people selling codes

This. The networks will charge you an arm and a leg for an unlock code, but they can be picked up on eBay for less than a fiver.

Once you have your code, turn your phone off, put the new SIM in, turn the phone on again and once it loads, it will ask you for the unlock code.

eBay is fine. I've used codes from eBay on multiple handsets with no issues whatsoever.
