Help Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 (WiFi) Update to 4.2.2

Got the 4.2.2 update forced upon us a couple days ago (OTA) and I'm seriously bummed. Although almost everything seems to work as it used to (despite complaints from other folks of a variety of standard features being somehow disabled), most of the changes/improvements (to features we actually use) are quite annoying and even unacceptable to us.

Overall, I'd give almost anything to get 4.1.2 restored to the wife's wonderful Note 8.0. I'm seriously tempted to drop the big bucks AGAIN for another Note 8.0 still equipped with Android 4.1.2 then deny any OS updates (if that's possible).

I'm probably gonna get flamed for these comments but I'm hoping there will be replies to this tirade. We seriously don't like what the "update" has done to the Note 8.0. Had I known what the "update" was going to do, I would not have let it download in the first place.

It's the wife's tab but I have to keep it working up to her expectations. Happy wife...happy life!!!

I've been told that a "factory reset" would NOT revert the OS back to 4.1.2. Is there any hope to using the "recovery console" to rid the tab of Android 4.2.2???

Try to find a stock 4.1.2 ROM, flash it, then disable automatic OTA. Never update (the OS or an app) until you've read some reviews of the update.

Visit XDA. Best place to hunt down the ROM you need. You will also need to use ODIN to flash it. You don't need to worry about warranty or tripping the flash counter if you are only flashing official ROMs. I've done it with my Note 10.1 (going from different region ROMs; Germany, Argentina, etc). I was lucky that someone uploaded my region's ROM (XAC - Canada).

And you are correct. Once the upgrade has been successfully applied, there is no going back through conventional methods.

Your recommendation to thoroughly vet OS and app updates in advance of installation is well-taken. I deserve all the criticism for this blunder and now I'm paying the price for my impetuous behavior. I got excited when I saw the update coming down as I'd never experienced it before.

It ain't gonna happen again.

I'll check out XDA (if they'll let me in, that is).

Yours is not the first recommendation to use ODIN to accomplish what I need. I've never heard of ODIN before but now's as good a time as any to learn about it.

As a followup question: what will a "reflashing" as has been suggested do to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 overlay? That is, would all the originally-equipped "Samsung" stuff return or will the tablet become a fully neutered Android 4.1.2 creature without the goodies we got on top of the OS from Samsung?
