Swapped a 3GS for a Galaxy Note
Observations,
fit finish slickness of the interface ia about 95% of the 3GS, which is a little more responsive smoother scrolling, Battery life is better as is call quality, the Android software, well lets just say its practically the same as IOS, but adds a layer of "home Screens" and industry standard "menu" and "escape" keys, its easy enough to get all your stuff synced up but it takes some fafing and utility downloading, it lacks the elegance of Apples cloud services, but is much more fun to tinker with.
Annoyances,
its difficult to handle the device without clicking on a button or active area, the volume and power keys need to have a more resistive click and the escape and menu keys would be way better as a displaced clickable key rather than touch sensitive area. Tends to attract attention, can be annoying if you want to be left alone.
Whats Good,
The size of the screen transforms the device, its as good as a Blackberry for messaging because of the size of the keyboard, and its close to a tablet for browsing and move watching, and its a great phone, there isn't anything else out there that does that?
tends to attract attention, can be an icebreaker for conversation while traveling
I was looking at carrying a laptop, my company phone, my personal phone and an iPad or Kindle on business trips, this device replaces two of those and possibly three if my company goes BYOD.
I would defiantly look at the GN 2 if it comes along particularly if they fix the annoyances and dont break the good features in the process
It has a 2 core CPU, but shows Apple's solution of adding GPU rather than CPU cores gives a better balance of performance.
