Samsung Galaxy Note or HTC One X?

My HTC Desire is still going strong but my daughter has her eyes on it as my contract is up for renewal in a few weeks. I am a webmaster and I am looking for a bigger screen. I am not too bothered about a large handset. Initially I was looking at the Galaxy Note but it seems to be very expensive. The HTC One X is slightly smaller but still has a 1280 wide screen and it looks like its Quad Core hardware will delay obsolescence more effectively. The pre-order deals I have seen suggest that this handset is more affordable too. So which should I go for? Your opinions are most welcome!

PS This is the first time I have had a contract phone for renewal. I'm with T-Mobile via mobiles.co.uk (Carphone Warehouse brand). Will I get a better deal sticking with T-Mobile and mobiles.co.uk (like the fact they provide an unlocked handset). I have unlimited data (Web n Walk) 300 mins, 300 texts, unlimited land lines calls for about

Note just looks riduculous when people hold it up to their ear, IMO.

I don't use my handset for calls that much. But I think the One X looks more like a phone, although the Note is probably better made. I'm just wondering if there is a killer feature in the Note that I need to consider as it does seem the One X has it all.

It's interesting that the One X seems to be cheaper than the note, given on paper, it's a better phone.

The downside to the One X is lack of removable storage and battery. The storage I can live with, but the battery could be a problem. Maybe not so much if you're not rooting and installing ROMs etc, but there's obviously the chance that you'll need to do a battery pull at some point even if you don't flash ROMs etc.

I'd wait until the One X is released and go and see which feels better in your hand/pocket. I've been all set to get a certain piece of tech before, then when I've actually had a play in the shop, I've decided it's not for me.

Re build quality, I've always found HTC's to feel more sturdy than Samsung handsets, but obviously I've not played with the One X yet so can't comment on that.

On paper though, if it were me, I'd go for the One X.

I will let you guys know how good is the HTC One X after attending their Private closed-door preview this weekend, as well as after attending the HTC ONE VIP Launch Event on 31th March! :)

Cheers! ;)

I get the feeling the One X is rather like a larger more rounded off Nokia Lumia 800. I have one of these on loan at the moment. The storage aspect is not an issue for me. I haven't remotely got near filling the 8GB card in my Desire. I'm not very happy about the battery situation, though. I wore out my Desire's battery after 18 months. I criticise Apple for this design policy. I'd have preferred an OLED screen, but by all accounts the One X screen is very good.
