Samsung Galaxy Note1 cable doesn't connect tightly enough to charge.

Android Question

My husband and I both have Samsung Galaxy Note 1's. His charging cord has never made a tight connection to his phone so in order to charge, he has to prop up the cord so it will charge. He had this problem regardless of which cord he used. The problem was with the female connection in the phone.

Just a couple of days ago, mine started doing the same thing! I tried switching cords but it didn't make a difference. If I apply pressure to the end of the cord where it connects to the phone just so, then I get the charging signal. But it goes away with the least little movement. If I just plug in the cord, it doesn't charge at all unless I press hard in just the right way. It does what my husband's phone is doing only much worse.

How can I fix this? Can the female connection for the cord in the phone be replaced? Is this a common problem since both my husband and I are having the same problem?

Thanks so much for your help!

Yes the female connection in the phone can be replaced but it is not a task for the usual consumer as it requires some pretty special equipment to make those tiny solder joints.

If it is at all possible, I would (have) returned both devices while they were still under warranty. I would not have found that to be a satisfactory device from the beginning.

Or if they're still under some warranty, now is the time.

good luck

Thank you for the quick reply. They are not under warranty. I'll try to find a local cell phone repair shop who can do it. It just seemed odd that both phones ended up with the same problem. I guess it is a fairly common problem!
