A Norwegian mobile site has visited Samsung Norway and they write in their article that they have gone away from the RFS filesystem to EXT4.

It's in norwegian, but I have included the the Google Translate link too for all non norwegians

Original link in norwegian:
SNIKTITT: Samsung Galaxy S II - Amobil.no

Google Translation to english

It also includes a video...

Wow, if this is right, very good move Samsung.

Looks like some companies do check the forums. Them tweaking the displays to reduce the Pentile Matrix effects or moving away from it totally, (dont really know which it is) the new file system...

The Galaxy S 2 might move to #1 on my list of new phones I want...lol All I would need to find out about is GPS and phone reception. Actually this phone, the LG 2X, LG 3D, Atrix, Bionic, Droid X2, Droid 3 are all tied at #1 for which will be my next phone...

Very cool. After seeing 3rd party EXT4 vs. the OEM RFS, there's no contest.

re: Atrix in the #1 phone running

After having one for ~25 days, I can tell you that there are several things that are mediocre, from the display to the camera.

^Yea the display knocked it down alot for me anyway. I will probably take the display on the LG 2X and my Droid X over the one on the Atrix.

But the reception is one of the reasons why I like Motorola phones. Thats why I got to find out about reception. GPS? I used it alot at one point last year. havent really used it anymore after that. I think I can live with that. Reception...all I can do is get it and test it out to really find out about that.

The GPS on my Atrix was very good. Never any lock issues and it operated really quickly.

It was kind of a bummer, I was hoping it was going to be a little better, because a few things were awesome, other things were so-so.

The qHD without a pentile sub-pixel configuration would've almost convinced me to keep, even though the color/contrast wasn't as good as the SAMOLED (I also have a Captivate).

It didn't have the fine details of the iPhone or the color of the Captivate, so it was just kind of "meh".

I expected this to happen since Samsung made Nexus S with 2.3 but it's nice to see confirmation on it.

Indeed this summer will be great time for android fans with so many great high end phones to choose. So far SGS2, LG Thrill, Droid X2 are front runners on my list. HTC is out of my consideration until they show ability to provide reasonable battery lives in their fast phones.

Has there been any more info on this? I saw someone here say that a system dump on XDA said it was still RFS, but I couldn't find anything about it on XDA. In 2.3, Android switched from YAFFS to Ext4 for better handling of multi-threading, i.e. dual core systems better - I wonder if RFS has the same limitation. All the more reason to ditch it.
