Help Samsung Galaxy S - Indian thread

Yes.. No info on the Samsung site, but that's typical.. They are very lazy in updating their site. The phone *will* be available in stores soon, that's for sure :)

Yeah.. lets hope. It's really a nice phone to go for. BTW I've Nexus One. It really an amazing device.

gr8 news for blore ppl...any idea if its available anywhere in Pune ?

and yeah krammikk pls do take some time and share wht us whta included in the box, some pics will be helpful and ur experience...

Is 8GB version also available at a lower price?

I just called them up. They have only the 16GB model. But 28k is pretty good pricing for the 16gig beast!

Now, all that's left to do is decide between this one and the Desire. Sigh...

I was told by the same shop that the Desire is expected to cost around 30k when it is launched. But I think Galaxy is a much better phone.. the super amoled itself is worth it.

Like Nithanth said I think 28k for this powerhouse is quite decent.

Waiting for monday........

A couple of things about the SGS make me wonder if I should go with the Desire despite SGS's more powerful CPU/GPU and the Super AMOLED display...

1. Going by another thread on this forum, SGS's GPS seems to be faulty. I REALLY hope its not a hardware issue. But seeing how the problem persists even with various 3rd party apps, I'm inclined to think it IS a hardware problem :(

2. The plastic. I want my 30k phone to feel GOOD in my hands! Not just like another Nokia 5320 that I currently own!

3. The AMOLED display. Sure its brighter, but some colours seem overly saturated (especially orange/red and green). I hope this doesn't spoil my video watching experience, since I'm gonna be doing that quite a lot.

I checked with the dealer here in Pune, he will get it by monday...so who bought it today from blore pls share your experience with all of us here :)

well guys,...initial impresssions--
1. Best screen iv'e seen on a mobile phone till date.
2. really responsive touch screen(can be compared to iphones).
3. no lag at all.
4. gps takes some time inside the house, but outdoors it's pretty good.
5. really light weight(alarming at first, then you realize you didn't put the battery in):D,still really light.
6.1 year warranty
7.i tested a 720p video and it played perfectly on the phone,
8.It does feel a bit plasticky,but not cheap(it's actually a weird mix).
9. External speakers are not bad,but I've seen better, but really good if you put headphones on.

i personally didn't like the design of the desire, but it's ur call, desire feels more sturdy in the hand and has flash.

krammikk, nice first impression,

few questions though:
1) box content, what all is included, have seem unboxing vids but want to know exectly whats included in Indian version, pictures will be nicee :)
2) whts the memory like, can you check phone and sd card memory in settings, how much it shows
3) I hope you paid 28K for 16GB model with warranty and bill
4) did you experience any lag while opening any application, I read several reviews that they experience lag while opening apps but after they are open its preety fast
5) which network you are on ? and did you connect to gprs really quick or faced problems?
6) any problems connecting and downloading apps from Android Market
7) hows wifi connection, again ppl face some problems

Seems you are the first one here who bought this phone, more questions will be on its way :)
