Help Samsung Galaxy S - Indian thread

I was using airtel GPRS on my Nexus One. Just give any name to it and set APN to airtelgprs.com leave other settings as it is (phone's default) and try to connect it. BTW which phone do you own and which OS is running?

Which city you bought ? and did you also had a leather case in box
 
do i need to discharge the battery fully and then recharge? will that give me a good battery life? my battery seems to be draining fast!!
 
Thanks, for sshapurkar & fabler for settings.

I called Customercare, third time they guided me properly. My gprs was not activated. They gave me the number and instructed to activate.

Yes, I got Leather Case. I bought it in Bangalore.

I used today moderately it consumed 40% for full day.
 
Visited quite a few shops in Bangalore today, including the big ones in Jayanagar 4th block. NONE of the big shops have the phone yet. The shop mentioned before in the thread - Akshar's telecom - has it, and one other little shop in bank colony has it. Weird. Didn't buy it yet. Will wait for another week.

The box looks completely different from the ones I've seen in the unboxing videos on youtube. Should I be worried? Could someone who purchased the phone from a different city please post pictures of the box? Thanks! :)

Here you go. As you can see it's a bit of a dust and finger print magnet. But other than that it's a fantastic device.

I bought it at Akshar's for 28k incl. tax.. He's one of the top 20 nokia dealers in the country believe it or not, so he's as genuine as they come.
 
Layar application on Samsung galaxy s works only for PUNE city as it's the only city for which the layar module is created..we've to wait till the developers or other companies which take on the layar creating job for India
creates for our respective cities. but the current layar can show you the attractions available from the google maps as you point ur phone to its direction. in Pune it shows shops, malls and historic forts and their details.

A new layar 'Travel India' is just been added, which shows all historic locations.

@ Nithanth - The more commonly know Accelerometer in mobiles is actually derived from the Acceleration Sensor technology (you can google it). It basically senses the acceleration of the device in a particular axes.. So I don't think there is anything wrong with that :)

Did you pay by cash or credit/debit card?

If I use debit card, is there any extra charge?
 
SGS owners, one quick question pls, can you search paid apps on android market ?

I am somehow not able to search any paid apps, all free apps are looking fine, is there any settings or something ?
 
It depends on your current location. coz paid applications are available to US/UK and canada I think.. If you're in india you cannot access it.
