Help Samsung Galaxy S - Indian thread

Hi Enthrall

Thanks a lot for the detailed list of what is new in 2.2.

I found one new feature that you can pinch and zoom in the App listing as well.

However, one question remains that whether a factory reset would erase any of the data installed on the phone (e.g. apps , contacts etc.)

I've never done a Factory Reset, but I think it might erase the installed Applications.

I'm pretty sure someone who's done a Factory Reset will come along soon and answer that! :P

Hi anil

Would you care to explain how is 'Hard Reseting' different from 'Factory reset' and how to do the former. I know the way to do 'Factory reset' through 'Settings --> Privacy --> Factory reset'. How do you do hard reset?

And is there any way to save the progress made on your games while factory reseting the phone?

Thanks

Shut your Android Galaxy S down (Power off) or remove Battery and then insert but dont turn on.
Now press Volume up, Home and Power together.
If the Samsung Symbol is comming up leave the Home Button.
Then there is a boot Menu.
Volume Up and Down to Navigate , Home to select the choosen option.

Choose WIPE option on menu.

Factory Reset : Will resinstall phone OS
Hard reset : will wipe out phone cache used for Froyo Update for temporary purpose.

Doing both after upgrade is recommended.

Hey

Thanks for the info. Any particular order in which I need to do this in order for this to be fruitful i.e. Do factory reset after OR before Hard reset?

With the new Froyo update, I'm getting a GPS location even when I'm indoors, that too within seconds. Never used to get this on the eclair.

What's it used for? I'm not going to install some random stuff just to check if it works.

LOL..you dont have any idea about Cloud2Device messaging ?
ok leave it..BTW, its the most exiting feature of Froyo and i just hope all apps like FB twitter shld and soon implement it ASAP.

Hmm, I think my GPRS connectivity might have been affected because of the FroYo upgrade.
It was working fine for around 30 minutes after the upgrade, but started showing the error "Request Timed Out". Today, I contacted Tata DOCOMO Customer care and they said things were fine from their side and that I have to clear and reset the 'Internet profile'. I deleted the APN, removed the SIM and put it in again. I received a "Configuration" file, but it wouldn't open, saying "Could not parse message", so I couldn't install the Service.

However, other SIM cards' data connectivity work just fine without any manual settings, and that was the case when I first used my DOCOMO SIM on my phone.

Has anyone else faced this problem, and might have a solution, suggestion?

Earlier on the eclair, there was this nice task manager widget that showed the number of running applications on the home screen itself. That widget has now gone. I see the task manager in the applications, and clicking on it gives more details and options than the previous app, but I miss the widget that showed the number of active applications. Any idea on how to get this back?

Guys some thing matter with my phone
1) After upgrading to froyo battery is draining too fast i.e. 10-12% less than an hour without any use ( I've to charge twice in DAY):confused:

befor ugrading i.e on eclair it was 10% for 8 hours on standby mode.
(I've use to wifi ON always at my home so it's 10%)

2) After rebooting my phone dosen't respond for min. 15 mins after then it is ok:confused::confused::confused:

I have done factory reset but doesn't improve can I go back to DDJ4 or wait for fix.

@niranjan

I've done fact. reset and I've to restore the contacts but it get error at 16% sometime 3%, But it work smoothly on SIM sync.

Hi, I finally got to update to Doc's BUJP8 v9. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have Voodo brightness or color fix :( .
Is it working for anyone running BUJp8?

But, the biggest problem I am facing is that when setting the voice recognition language to English(India), it
(finally) recognizes what I speak, but always does a google search. For eg. Navigate to Delhi, would be shown as a
google search. But, when setting to any other English (For eg.English(Generic)), it is working fine, but is not able
to properly understand my language..

PLEASE HELP, guys!!

Bump!!

Anyone tried it(voice search) using their firmware?. I'd love to use it, as it is now recognising what I speak rather well..

PLEASE HELP
!!

Also, if anyone knows how to do voodoo color fix on Froyo-ed Galaxy S, do let me know . (without flashing another ROM..)
