Plug it into the computer, select Kies and start up the Kies application on the PC? GB should be available now, if not now, very soon.

Hi, I am wanting to upgrade my galaxy but when you upgrade does it wipe all your apps off your phone? I am sure I read something about that somewhere. Any help advice would be appreciated.

Having had all versions of Gingerbread on my phone I would honestly advise you to wait. 2.2.1 is far more stable at the moment. The big issue I have had with Gingerbread is the battery drains very quickly. Even with a program like juice defender a fully charged battery left overnight was dead in the morning.

I'm having problems using Kies to try to update the firmware on my phone. I currently have Android 2.2 installed on it, and Kies is telling em that I can update to something else. However when I try it somehow can't backup anything, so it skips to the next step (fair enough) but then falls over flat on its face and Windows tells me that "FirmwareUpdate has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly..." I can get this cycle to repeat by unplugging then replugging the USB cable into my computer (which runs on Windows 7).

I've tried the regedit trick. Then found out from another thread on here that apparently it doesn't work on 2.2 anyway. However I'm saying this so that you realise that I am willing to have a go at something a bit outside of my comfort zone, that I know a bit more than witchBLade seems to, but I'd also like to say that I wouldn't be particularly happy at attempting to root my handset in case I get it wrong and also in case it invalidates my warrantee and/or insurance.

I'm in the UK and with T-Mobile. If you want more information that can help you help me I'd be quite happy to tell you. Bank details etc not included :P
