Help Samsung Galaxy S WIFI 5.0 Video Streaming Problem

I have a Samsung Galaxy S WIFI 5.0 YP-G70 upgraded to Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 with Flash 10.1.

YouTube & BBC iPlayer videos stream OK but TVCatchup other video Apps & internet videos via web-browser will not play. TVCatchup error message: "Video Playback Error - Playback of 'program' has ended" Also I can see no full-screen button on YouTube videos, factory reset didn't solve it.

I contacted Samsung & they advise exchanging it, Is there a way to fix this or should I return the device?

you have a galaxy player vs an actual phone in the galaxy s so i moved you to the samsung galaxy player forum.

i do not have your device so i can't help you there, but if the samsung peeps suggested to return it then that is what i would do.

the only thing i can think of is to try a factory reset and see if that works. if not then bring it in to get it fixed or replaced.

I received this reply from TVCatchup support:

"People have a misconception in thinking just because it is Android it will work automatically sadly that isn't the case. Android is an OS that can run on many many devices at different levels of internal hardware and this is the problem as you get what you pay for I am afraid.

As an example there are many Chinese tablets sporting the latest and proudest Android OS but if you look at the hardware you then realise why they are so cheap and that is because they have skimped on adequate and suitable hardware to run the device with live streaming and I think this is a similar issue what you are witnessing right now.

Can you try this please:

1. Go to the Google Play market and search for the MX Player and download and install it.
2. In your mobiles browser open the following address TVCatchup iPhone )
3. Login with your account details (you will need your TVCatchup account login for this and if you haven't got one then just signup here TVCatchup - Never Miss A Show Again )
4. Once signed in click on a channel and it will open up in the MX Player".

MX Player worked.
