Help Samsung Galaxy S2 Stuck Searching for GPS

Hi,

I have a S2 and a couple months back I didn't have any problems with my GPS. Now however, whenever I open the navigation and type a location, it finds me on the map and highlights the route to take, however at the bottom of the screen it says "searching for GPS" and therefore does not starts the navigation.

I have rooted the phone last month. I am not sure if this is the problem and I don't know how to unroot the phone so I can't check if this is the problem.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I'm having the exact same issue. Galaxy s2, no app that requires a satellite lock can achieve its lock. Google maps, runkeeper etc I've downloaded all the recommended apps (GPS tools, GPS status
Etc) and clears the agps cache. Still no luck. The phone recognised 9 satellites but doesn't LOCK on to any.

I noticed this problem after a sync with kies, all I done was 'backup 'my device.

I'm O2 UK.

Would love to resolve this issue soon, as I rely on my gps for maps and tracking my runs.

Try this:

Open maps first, wait for it to locate you in maps. Then exit maps and re enter navigation address and it should work

I found it on the net. It sometimes works for me. Let me know if it works for you.

Hi All,
I was having similar problems with the GPS on the S2. The GPS just wasn't being picked up at all in any apps. I installed a few of the GPS fix apps, like GPS Status, and this confirmed that my phone could see multiple satellites (up to 11) but could never get a fix on any of them. Funnily enough I noticed if I turned airplane mode on then the satellites locked on. Samsung were useless as they wanted to take my phone in for repair even though I was sure this was a software issue.

Not being particularly technical I struggled a bit in finding a solution - I've not got a rooted phone and the steps involved in doing many of the fixes were a bit daunting, but in the end installing the official samsung ICS 4.0.4 did the trick. For anyone who needs an idiot guide (as I did) just google 'ibtimes s2 4.0.4' and the first article outlines how to do it with Odin (something else I'd not used before). hopefully this helps others like me!
