Hi everyone.
just bought a samsung galaxy s2. Great phone but having a couple of problems.I can't stop Wifi sharing draining battery and can't connect phone to my pc via wifi direct. Anyone got any ideas?

Hello and welcome to Android Forums. Your best bet for help with your battery issue would be to check in with the other users of your S2. Being as there are different S2s for different carriers you need to follow the link that matches your phone and carrier.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums! :)

I'm not sure what you mean by Wifi Sharing and Wifi Direct. Could you mean sharing your internet service via wifi? This would be a portable hotspot which i believe is disabled by going to menu>settings>wireless & networks. Once that is disabled, you can open Kies Air to access your phone from your PC over wifi.

I hope that was what you were asking.

Thanks for your responses. What I meant by wifi sharing was, wifi direct, I am lead to believe is meant to act as an access point for direct communication between wifi enabled devices. I managed to get my phone and my laptop to recognise each other but I could not get a working connection. (nothing to do with the internet as the "HOTSPOT" feature works perfectly.) Then I forgot how I achieved this and now I can't even get them to recognise each other. According to the Wifi Alliance literature, if one device has wifi direct the device it is trying to connect to only needs to be wifi enabled and therefore I should be able to connect my compaq presario laptop to my Samung galaxy S2 phone shouldn't I ?
