Help Samsung Galaxy S2x Rebooting Issues.

Hey guys,

I am having an issue with my Samsung Galaxy S2X (Hercules). the phone will randomly reboot itself, also if I try to turn on/lock my screen it will turn off. it vibrates constantly while off. I've taken the battery out, plugged it in with no battery and it still vibrates.

Do any of you know if this would be a software issue? Or the power button issue? battery issue? I'd like to boot my phone into safe mode to troubleshoot a little bit, but I cant seem to find how to boot into safe mode.

I've removed the SD card, but with no avail, it still reboots randomly. I am willing to bet its an issue with maybe the power button sticking? Can any of you knowledgeable people around here help a noob?

I would like to avoid doing a factory reset if at all possible, but I'm not sure where I can start with the troubleshooting.

thanks in advance!

I'm having the exact same issue for the past couple weeks (posted another thread on it earlier). FYI I tried the factory reset this morning, and that did not resolve the issue.

ahh man, hopefully someone can figure it out. thanks for letting me know about the factory reset and it not working (unfortunately) that says to me its either a battery issue (my battery has been strange lately, says its full then all of a sudden it'll reset itself and show half full) or a power button issue..which I seem to think it might be usually if i press it once to turn on/off the screen it'll act like I hit it more than once.

I'm planning to take it to the telus store to see if they have heard of this issue. I'll update with any info I get from Telus.

My issue has been attributed to the Power button/Screen lock. I took it into a repair shop telus recommended, and they narrowed it down.

They took apart my phone, messed around with the button. Now it seems to be working for now. It will eventually need to be replaced, a 60$ repair.

hopefully this is your issue as well it seems easily fixed.

thanks.

I ended up taking it into a telus store who sent it in for a warranty claim last week. No update yet, but according to the online telus status update it's expected to be complete by the 24th, so we'll see. They said they were finding turnaround times to be less than 2 weeks, and gave me a decent loaner phone, but it required a $150+tax deposit.

Well, got it back today, charged it up and low and behold it still does the same thing just as frequently.

I called Telus up and they told me to take it back to the store once again. Apparently they have a new policy that if a phone comes back from a warranty and still has the same problem, they look at other "options". Going to take it in tomorrow, I'll report how it goes.

I was able to basically null-and-void the telus contract for my Galaxy S2x based on the fact that it had been sent out for warranty repair and came back with the same problem. My option was basically to start a new contract without any cancellation penalties. I went with the Galaxy Note 2 and it is such an amazing phone, battery lasts 2-3 days on a charge while my GS2 was lucky to last 24 hours. Even with the bigger screen size, it's just damn impressive and actually a phone I can imagine being happy with for 3 years.

I was able to keep my GS2 as well, and found a company that can fix the power button issue for about $50, going to get around to that eventually for a backup phone.
