Help Samsung Galaxy S3 battery drain

Hi, in my S3 battery section, Android System is taking 22% of my battery at the top of the list.

I installed GSam battery but it shows Kernal (Android OS) consuming the most battery.

My phone is not always on cellular standby, around half a day only. But my battery depletes very quickly even when I don't use it much. What could be the problem to this?

A screenshot of the CPU usage:

my battery has been draining like crazy lately too. I charged my phone to 96% last night, and took it off the charger. Usually when I wake up its only at 80% or so, but today it was at low battery at 15%!!!!! that has never happened before! something ate up my battery like crazy in the middle of the night

according to GSam Battery Moniter: Kernal (android os) used 34% which is usually normal but "google services" used 25.3% I have never seen that on here before. And when I click manage it brings me to "google contacts sync" wtf why is this using all my battery in the middle of the night when it just sits there on my nightstand?!?!

I've lost 49% of my battery today with very minor usage. Screen is at 13%. Apps are at 83%, of which 56% is Kernel (Android OS). On the last JB (4.1.1), I lost battery mostly through Android system. I attempted everything in the battery saving tips thread, to absolutely no avail. Now, with 4.1.2, I'm losing it via Kernel? This was my first Android phone, and I have enjoyed it absent this battery issue. But it is getting to the point that it's just not worth the hassle anymore. That there is no simple fix is just unfathomable to me as an end user. Between the main participants ( At&t, Samsung, Google), you would think at least one would work in some official capacity to correct issues like this.

Last week, my battery seemed to drain faster than normal. I just rebooted my phone and that seemed to fix it.
