Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. Nexus 4

Hey guys, I am really new here and I probably look like a nub, but I was hoping that some of you could help me...

My AT&T contract is going to be over in about 5 months and I am planning on moving to T-mobile. However, my Samsung Infuse phone as of right now is just about dead. Its glitchy and slow, and I don't think it will last for the next 5 months.

So right now, I deciding between whether to use my AT&T phone insurance to get a replacement, refurbished Samsung Galaxy S3 for a deductible fee of $199 (and unlock it later for T-mobile)

or

To buy a brand new Google Nexus 4 unlocked for $349 (close to $400 after the addition of tax and shipping costs)

Which one do you think I should choose?
Thanks a lot!

I've been with T-Mo for about 10 years now & probably will be for another 10.

In Feb. I wanted to upgrade my Exhibit 4G and was just like you, the N4 or S3. I didn't know anybody that had a Nexus 4 & a few of my friends has the S3. As bad as this sounds I read a lot about the S4 & HTC One & really didn't need all the shit that came with them...TV Remote, Fitness crap.
So I played around with my friends S3, I knew all about Samsung from my Exhibit. I also knew about all the bad stuff about the N4 when it was released, cracked back glass, buggy Wi-Fi & Bluetooth.
I decided to look into the Nexus 4 once again since it was about 6 months since release. I read reviews only for 2013, I also watched plenty of YouTube reviews...I have to say that probably by the 2nd video I had decided on the N4. The next day I called T-Mobile ordered my phone with $20 down & that was it..I think total down was like $57 to mail it to me.

It takes a little getting used to how to do things, it's not all laid out for you like Samsung's TouchWiz.

Watch some YT videos, there are a few comparing the N4 vs S3...and make your choice....and remember while all those S3 users are still on 4.2 you'll be on 4.3.3 & Key Lime Pie months before they ever will.

Thread moved to the comparison sub-forum of the Android Lounge for you, lindangn, where members gather to read and comment on one device as compared to another, etc. :)

Depends on one thing: How much local storage do you need? The S3 gives you an option for SD card, but the Nexus limits you to the onboard storage.
