Help Samsung Galaxy S4 predictive text

My Galaxy stopped working Sunday. Assurion was very good about getting me a replacement which I got yesterday. one bad thing I noticed though. On my old phone I would enter a word and if it did not recognize it it would give me 3 possibilities for that word. I could select one of the possibilities, or just hit SPACE and it would accept what I typed.

This new phone gives me three possibilities also (two words and one check mark). If you select the check mark it means accept the word as is. You can also choose a different word. If you hit space then instead of accepting what you typed it changes it to what it thinks it should be, which usually is not correct.

I type, for instance, a lot of German words. Or the company where I work has a lot of acronyms and things and this can be a pain having to select a check mark every time. Is there any way to change this? It was fine on my last found. And Please do not tell me to change the default language to German. My native language, and 95% of what I type, is English.

Looks like my Android version is 5.0.1

If you were using the default keyboard in the old phone, it may be as simple as just going into settings on the new phone for the keyboard and selecting what you want. I use SwiftKey and TouchPal, and both have that option in the settings, but you have to go in and "tick" it.
