samsung gs2 email problem

Hi, new to the forum, hoping to get advice from fellow forums users. Since upgrading the software of my galaxy s2 to the latest ICS version 4.0.4, I am unable to set up my talktalk email account. Everything was ok before the upgrade but now after going through the setup procedure and getting to the final stage it keeps coming back with the message "unable to connect to server". Have checked port settings for incoming & outgoing, so is this a problem with the latest software or an issue with my email provider?
