Help [Samsung GT-I5800] Can't receive SMS (Text Messages).

this issue was a big issue in the u.k. with the galaxy 5 (europa). in this case the fault was with the network provider (it only affected O2, not orange, vodaphone etc....). It was fixed by O2 on their network.

Only posting so that you are aware that it might not be your phone or software.

i just bought this gsm 2 weeks ago and i have the same problem. I don't receive all sms. I did not install many new apps and have more than enough internal memory.

Someone found a sollution for this problem?

1) only installedadvanced task killer & facebook
2) 8 GB
3) 1 week i think
4) no idea, not more then 1000
5) around 500 (i deleted some)
6) no

Ive started getting the same problem! This is bullshit!
I put my sim into another phone and i got all the messages.

ive tried:
I took out my SD card, nothing
deleted my old sms messages, nothing
Been in full reception areas, nothing

next im going to try download GO SMS

if that doesn't work might try all ways popular throwing phone against ground technique.

Side note i live in New Zealand and im using the Vodafone network.

Im having the exact same problem for the last 4 days, I can still access everything like usual but i can't send/recieve text messages.... Im very annoyed and if this problem can't be fixed soon im switching phones!

So hallo again,
I apply the warranty with this problem. They upgrade my software and the problem is gone. But many other problems appeared :-D
Honestly I DO NOT RECOMMEND this phone and all products from SAMSUNG!

Case closed :-)

Well this may come late in the treat, but just to add my moneys worth...

I arrived in the UK last night, send two messages from my phone and that was it, afterwards any message I tried to send came up as WARNING message not sent, thinking I was out of funds on the phone, thought no further about, untill I brought a local operator sim card, set up the new sim, received all the required details for sms, MMS, internet etc... still sms issues, after hours of looking for ways to fix the problem came upon this tread.

solution was a simple down load of the app GO SMS.

I found this rather interesting, I've had my Samsung SL (S GT-I9003) for just under a year wail living in Indonesia, I had no problems with sms or anything else with either the phone or provider.

I can only conclude that Samsung are not selling a faulty product as some would say on here, but most likely there is an issue between Samsung and some Western mobile providers(though had no problems with sms function in the USA wail on holiday over there) what that issue may be I could not say, maybe a coding issue or maybe Apples issues with Samsung namely the S and Tabs products are having something to do with this issue. My crystal is not able to tell me at this point:D

Hello from France,
For some unkown reason since a few weeks I can't receive any longer SMS while I had no problems before. I do not know if this could be related to the Android upgrade I performed a few weeks ago because I do not remember exactly the upgrade date. I can still send successfully SMS.

I checked this problem is not related to specific mobile providers. I tried to look at all SMS related options but did not find a clue. But... I discovered that all SMS are indeed received but they are stored directly on the SIM card without any notification...

To solve the problem I installed application Go SMS Pro and checked I was now correctly notified on SMS reception. Then I deinstalled Go SMS Pro and checked that notification worked again.

Thanks in advance.

hiiiiiiiiiii friends i had this same error

for this uninstall any application from phone and try

because of low phone memory the sms not geting

Did anyone get to the bottom of this? I know it was posted quite a while ago now.

My daughter has just bought a Samsung Galaxy Y, running OS 2.2 I believe but could be 2.3 and she cant receive SMS either. She can send and make/receive calls. Its been like it since she's had it. Length of sms sent doesn't make any difference and different people have tried sending to her.

I've not tried taking the card out and putting it in another phone as only read this today but will try this when she comes home from school, but she did dismount the sim card via the software but didn't physically remove the card.

If any wonder cures have been found, I'd be grateful to hear about them.

Thanks in advance.
