Samsung how I hate the

You get a phone with a processor powerful enough to run a computer, then complain that it heats up? I know that it seems strange to buy a new phone, and have it heat up on you, but when you think about it, it's completely unavoidable, especially with the fact that the heat has nowhere else to travel... the phone is wafer thin.

Great point about the fast cpu in some of these Android devices now days, as well as the thinness of the stock case. This does add up to more perceived warmth in the hands of some users.

As it is, I think the manufacturers are doing a pretty good job of containing the temperatures, recalling my MicroTac from several years ago getting very hot to my hand during phone calls over about two minutes long. And those things had nothing of the power of our smartphones. ;)

There is some clever engineering involved in the Galaxy S2. You see, the entire metal mount around the camera and the flash is actually a heat sink. If you touch the surface, it is actually corrugated, which means the surface is not straight and flat, but with tiny fins running around and around. The fins increase the surface area to help dissipate heat. I thought this is actually very clever and Samsung may have patented the design, which is trouble for others if they also tried to use this system as a heatsink. This is becoming more necessary as chips get more cores and clock speeds.
